This March, Garden Grove Inn Will Host Two Winter Knitting Weekends

Join us February 28 - March 2 (This first weekend is SOLD OUT), or March 7-9 to relax, knit, and join in community and creativity. This weekend, we'll make a stunning Pincha Shawl that will show off all the beauty of the local hand-dyed yarn we provide from the lovely local yarn shop, Sandpiper.

We invite you to join us in Union Pier, Michigan for a fun weekend of knitting and community! We'll use the weekend to knit this beautiful shawl, complete with an in-person instructor, Anna S. We've chosen this pattern  by Pinpilan Wangsai , because it will show off the beautifully hand dyed yarns that we source from Hoof-to-Hanger Fiber Mill, just up the road in Bridgman, Michigan. Pincha comes from the word peacock feather in Sanskrit, and you can see why this pattern got its name!

Saturday Afternoon And Weekend

We'll take a knitting break on Saturday afternoon for a visit to Sandpiper and Hoof-to-Hanger Fiber Mill  in Bridgman (from where your yarn was sourced). You'll get a chance to shop, but the excitement of this visit is to take a tour of the Fiber Mill to see how your yarn comes to be!

Spend the weekend knitting with others in front of the fire and/or with a glass of wine, or take some time away, cozied up in your comfy room! All levels of experience are welcome. We'll have a plan b beginner's project for newer knitters and those looking to learn, so truly all are welcome!

Come Alone, Or Bring A Friend

Rooms are priced from $450-$530, depending on the room size/amenities, for single occupancy. Plan to add $135 for a second occupant, to account for additional knitting materials.

The cost of two nights at the inn for this very special weekend includes…

  • Dinner when you arrive Friday night (pizza & salad) to enjoy while Anna walks us through and starts us each on the weekend's project
  • All your knitting materials (needles, yarn, etc.)
  • Personalized and hands-on instruction all weekend from our experienced knitter!
  • Breakfast Saturday & Sunday mornings

More About Our Teacher, Anna...

Anna shown with her Detroit Lions Scarf, just before finishing it, just in time for the game to start! She donated her leftover yarn to a very excited waitress!

Anna taught herself to knit more than 20 years ago and calls it her "therapy". She loves lace knitting, the more complicated the better, but also regularly churns out warm, chunky hats or scarves for Midwest winters. She's got 4 WIPs (Works In Progress) currently hanging out on the needles, and her most recently completed works include a Detroit Lions Scarf to commemorate their winning season, and a beautiful sweater to keep her warm through a Michigan winter! She lives in Detroit with her husband, 6 year old son, and basement full of yarn.
